I somehow tracked you via Jinzhou. Twelve years ago my dh and I taught at Jinzhou Teachers College (now Bohai U). Currently living/teaching in Hong Kong. I’m interested in your site because sometimes I get really tired of the single guys blogging in China and like reading your perspective. What I would REALLY like to read is a blog by parents living in China, raising their expat kids there! We’ve debated going back to China with our kids but with one having asthma, we’ve been quite reluctant (especially after our visit to Jinzhou in summer of 2005).

Hey, umm… I’m Ryan. I like long walks on dirty beaches, enjoy listening to S.H.E. at 140dB through 70dB rated speakers, and have been known to throw stale mooncakes at people I dislike.

As I was preparing to move to Qingdao I Googled: “Qingdao Blog,” and came up with your site. I have really enjoyed reading about your experiences. Drop me an email and maybe we can meet up. Keep up the good work!

My name is Gabrielle and I am teaching English in a city called Fuyang. It is located in the Zhejiang province and is about an hour out of Hangzhou. I came across your blog several months ago before I even came to China. I was looking for other people living and working in China. I come back every couple of days to get some reading in - for I am always eager to learn about new and interesting things.

Found your cool Halloween story through the HHR.

I’ve attempted to delegate my response requirements by telling everyone I know about your blog. At this point I should have cards with the web address on it. Actually sat my parents down and forced them to look at it, my book club got a reminder by email, and most of my esteemed Johnnie buddies got it written down on cocktail napkins. But no love! Guess it’s time to stop being a deadbeat and respond myself.
I am lucky to consider myself Josh and Emily’s friend after lots of good times together in Annapolis, Philadelphia and DC. Although I’m still US-bound, I’m months away from my own intercontinental move. At this point, 3000 or so miles in any direction is 3000 miles closer, right?

We were given your website by a friend of yours, Kristen, who met you in Jinzhou. We enjoy catching up from time to time and reading your interesting take on China and life in general.

I love reading this blog…I check in regularly to see how you are doing. I particularly liked reading Emily’s account of book club meetings at her house because I am a founding member of that book club.
It is all interesting and all good!

Hi Emily and Josh!
I read your blog whenever I simultaneously have time and remember–maybe every three or four weeks. But then it’s like a treasure trove of built-up posts, always very satisfying. Thanks for writing so gloriously.
PS–to the rest of the world–I know Josh and Emily through St. John’s College, Josh’s alma mater and likewise for Emily’s dad. And I was honored to be at their beautiful wedding. And Gena wrote the blog address on a cocktail napkin.

Josh, I knew if I Googled you, it would not be disappointing. Please don’t Google me. Drop me a line when you find some time.

So happy to have stumbled on ya’lls where-abouts…Google is amazing. Congrats…the last time I emailed Josh you were getting married and saying something about map-making and tires;) But I’m sure daily walks on the Wall have thinned all that out.
Now you are out of the country–was surprised to never hear from you while in Central America (except for an apology)–yes I survived the gangs–have to make a return trip for follow up research soon…yikes!
Sorry I must confess I have not but recently found your blog–read about how you got to China (an eviction–seems a bit extreme for a continental shift in location) liked the photos. Emily you are lovely and the both of you make a fetching couple. So are ya’ll (i’m doing it on purpose) planning on living in CHina permanently??? There is an awesome train–the siberian express–are you familiar? Congrats on the new addition to the family soon to come…ever entertained the idea of midwife vs. medical? Are you speaking Chinese or Mandarin or what?

I just wanted to say that I’m reading this too, although I’m months late. My fiance is Chinese-American and I am American; we’re planning to marry next year and then move to China, probably only for a year or two. He found your blog and passed it on to me! Very fascinating… thanks for writing it.

I found your blog a couple of hours ago, and am fascinated.
I’m a Finnish student interested in China and, naturally, enjoying good blogs.
I stumbled here via a link from some China blog that I subscribe to - unfortunately can’t remember the name of that blog, because have spent the last hour or so reading your blog archives :)

Hi Emily, my husband and I will be living in Qingdao for the next couple of years and I was wondering if you had much trouble keeping your blog current while you were over there. My husband is already there and can’t pull up Wordpress at all. I am hoping that it is just because of the games. Do you think I should move my blog before I leave in a few weeks? Please email me with your advice on this. I love your blog, and I am keeping it on my reader even though you guys are back home!
