Almost at the Finish Line

We have been terrible about keeping peer-see updated for the past couple of weeks, but we have a very good excuse. I have been tying up the computer, busily writing my novel. My goal was to write 50,000 words by the end of the month.

Friends, I am happy to tell you that I have written 49,273 words so far. That leaves only 727 words left to write, and I have until tomorrow at midnight to do it. I am about to succeed in the NaNoWriMo challenge, and it feels great! I will savour each one of those 727 words before I cross the finish line.

Of course, the novel is still only half complete. I have discovered that I am really writing a 300 page novel and not a 175 page novel, so there is still more work to be done. My three major characters are stuck in unresolved situations. Adam is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Adam’s mother, Joni, is in the middle of an affair with a very young man, who also happens to be in a cult.

I know what will happen to Adam and Joni. I am not sure how I will resolve things for Adam’s sister, Julie, who is getting herself mixed up in a very shady land deal in China. I am not sure how I will resolve Julie’s story, but I have a few ideas.
Thanks to all of you who are still tuning in, despite the lack of life-in-China updates. I promise to write more soon about real life, instead of focusing only on fantasy life. I will give Josh some time at the keyboard, too.

Hmm, that’s a tough call. Which is better, Peer-see posts or the prospect of a novel? Your fans need both! Split your time but keep it up on the book. It can’t stay unfinished! Imagine the horror, your book gets discovered on a recovered hard drive a hundred years from now and finished by some smarmy futuristic grad student. Adam’s ship/plane goes down and he’s lost, Joni has another child at 70 and Julie unleashes Donald Trump on China, accelerating the county’s precipitous rise and consequent fall. No, we need a true Emily ending!
